Brief description
Set of six Chippendale style side chairs with pierced splat, balloon seat, cabriole legs, pad feet, flame stitch slip seats (reproductions). Cupid's bow crest rail with flared ears, tenoned to splat and posts. Splat pierced, flat front and chamfered rear, tenoned to raised lipped shoe. Balloon shaped seat, inner trapezoidal frame receives slip seat, triangular pine corner blocks. Slip seat with maple frame ("75cts" script under one slip seat), tenoned rails, webbing under material, horse-hair stuffing, multicolored flame stitching, evidence of former leather strip binding below tacks. Cabriole legs, top quarter tenoned to rail, incorporates corner of seat, rounded cabriole knee, raked backwards. Raised pad feet.
