Brief description

Wholecloth dark blue wool quilt with buff wool backing. The backing is hand-spun "Z" twist wool single ply. It is hand woven tabby weave approximately 32 or 33 inches wide. The backing may be home-dyed onionskin. The front is hand-spun "Z" twist wool, single ply, tabby weave, hand woven, and unevenly glazed. The batting is white wool. It is quilted in blue wool in small even stitches with groups of three rows of squares approximately 6 1/2" (16.5 cm) wide inside each area alternating rows of four petal flowers and four-pronged windmills. Two rows of stitching around quilt edges.
